Why am I in the UAE?

I work for a healthcare company that creates software that is used for patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The devision of the company that I work for, handles all of the pieces of the implementation process that involve preparing the end-users (doctors, nurses, secretaries, etc.) to use the software. My specialty is teaching end-user classes at the client site. More specifically, I specialize in teaching physicians how to utilize the software to do their job.

My job takes me all over the country and now it has taken me to the UAE. While in the UAE, my colleague and I will be training at two different hospitals.

The first one is in downtown Abu Dhabi and they had been live with my company's software for several years. Will and I were there to conduct update training for just one week. There were many western doctors which made training relatively smooth. I did have one class that was interesting because I had to pause every few minutes for the director of the group to translate it into Arabic. The translator would look at me ever few minutes to confirm that what she was says was correct...I would just kind of shake my head in agreement even though I had no idea what she was saying. During a class that Will was teaching, one of the physicians whipped out their cell phone and took his picture! We have no idea why they did it, but Will's picture is out there somewhere :)

After the first week, we then moved on to a hospital that is much more rural outside of Abu Dhabi. This hospital is going-live with several entities of the software at one time. Will and I will be training an all day course 4 days out of the week until Christmas. Then we will return to the hospital in early January to assist with the go-live event.
The hospital that I worked at for the first week that I was in Abu Dhabi. It is a beautiful example of traditional middle eastern architecture.
